How to Use the CalmBabe Carrier

In short: check the product for integrity, adjust the straps to fit you, seat your child on the hip, secure snugly and safely — and off you go for errands and walks. Before each use, inspect the hardware and webbing; if any damage is found — do not use.

Preparation (1 min)

  • Choose a side
You can wear the carrier on the left or right side — the construction is symmetrical and adapts to your dominant hand.

  • Wear the strap diagonally
The strap runs across the shoulder/chest to the opposite hip.

  • Strap length
Lift the buckle — the webbing slides easily to lengthen/shorten; after seating the child, tighten again and check the keeper.

  • Shoulder pad
Make sure the soft pad sits on the shoulder to avoid discomfort and chafing of the neck or shoulder.

  • Elastic safety loops
If the elastic loops have come off or worn out — they can be easily replaced by tying them above the buckle.

Seating the child (30 sec)

  • Place the child on your hip and hold them close with your torso.

  • Slide the seat under the buttocks, keep the knees higher than the bottom (the “M” position), and the back naturally rounded.

  • Tighten the strap so the child is snug “high and close” to your body; check the keeper.

Age and weight limits

Typically, carriers of this type are designed for use from ~8 months to ~4 years and up to 30 kg (guideline).

Important warnings

Fall hazard

  • Before seating, loosen the strap; after seating — tighten the child snugly to your body.

  • Be careful when bending/walking; do not bend at the waist — squat using your knees.

  • Do not use during sports activities.

  • Your balance may change due to your child’s movements — move carefully.

Suffocation hazard

  • Infants up to ~4–6 months have an increased risk of suffocation; not recommended for infants who cannot hold their head.

  • Do not press the child’s face to your body; leave space to move the head; the face must always be visible.

General notes

  • Always monitor your child while carrying.

  • For low birth weight babies or if there are medical conditions — consult a specialist.

  • Before each use, check the seams, hardware, buckles; if damaged — stop using.

Quick checklist before leaving

  • Buckle fastened. Pad on the shoulder.

  • Child is snug — “high and close”, face visible.

  • Hands are free, but control — always.
